What is a shawl?
A shawl is essentially a scarf, usually made from knitwear, that wraps around your shoulders and sometimes your head. Cardigans that have thicker long collars are called shawl cardigans because wearing them does feel and look like you are wearing a shawl around your shoulders.
Shawl cardigans
This type of cardigan is usually chunkier and made from thicker wool and fabric which makes it a perfect garment for the fall and winter months. Shawl cardigans are more popular amongst men and come in a variety of styles, colors, and thickness variants. Shawl cardigans are usually worn as outer layers and can be worn over oxford shirts, vests, henleys, tees, and thicker plaid shirts. They can look stylish if worn properly and if the colors of your trousers or shoes complement the color of your shawl cardigan or vice versa.
These cardigans radiate with masculinity
Shawl cardigans can be a work of art. Since they are often made from quality wool, these garments tend to be embellished with gorgeous patterns ranging from ribbed to braided and everything in between. Some shawl cardigans will sport unique motifs, larger posh buttons and belts, and rich colors. For example, a man can wear a rich dark blue shawl cardigan over a dark suit, but his tie will also be a rich blue and radiate with elegance. Or you can wear a dark brown cardigan with a nice braided or with a nice pair of corduroy pants or jeans and a pair of dark brown boots that will look like they are an integral part of your shawl cardigan top because braiding and colors match. That is the beauty of shawl cardigans during cold months, they accentuate style and masculinity effortlessly.
