Origins of newsboy’s cap?
If you love hats, you probably own at least one newsboy-style hat in your collection. They are sometimes called paperboy’s hats and just like cardigans, have originated in England as a universal wool headwear that is stylish and timeless. Quickly these hats spread globally and throughout North America where they were worn by the working-class and later became leisure garments. You can wear these hats with almost any outfit but somehow, they go so well with cardigans just because both garments are made from quality fabrics, most often wool.
Wearing your newsboy’s cap with a cardigan
Gents of all ages have been wearing these caps for over a hundred years, but they have become popular amongst women as well. Artists, celebrities, and everyone who loves a universal and simple cap for all seasons will often choose a newsboy cap. I won’t go into a detailed description of newsboy hat styles but I will share a few things about them that will help you pair them up with your favorite cardigan on your next stroll through the city.
Get a quality newsboy’s hat
First and foremost, you want to go for quality craftsmanship. There are so many quality manufacturers on the market today that getting a lower quality cap should simply not happen. Just like cardigans, newsboys hats are made with quality fabrics, most frequently, quality wool blend. In the case of paperboy-style hats, the best option for the fabric you would want to go with is Harris Tweed. 
This is a cloth that is handwoven from virgin wool in Scotland and is considered one of the best fabrics for suit jackets and newsboy hats. Newsboy’s hats are great for transitional months
You can’t always wear a baseball-style hat with your cardigan. Not unless you are on a golf course or watching your favorite baseball team live. Colors of your cardigan and your cap don’t have to match
That is correct. For example, you can wear a plaid print newsboy cap and any color cardigan or an argyle print cardi and a maroon newsboy cap and look fabulous. In fact, a different color cap will give you a chance to match it with your trousers, belt, or shoe color. So, a nice-looking newsboy-style cap will give you a lot of ideas to stylize your outfit.
Do paper boy’s hats go well with any cardigan style?
Newsboy hats will complement any style of cardigan. Shawl, thin, ribbed, or long cardigans. Ladies can sport newsboy hats and cardis very well too. Whether it is a duster cardigan or a cropped style one, these hats will make your styling choices an easy task. Even celebrities love to combine cardigans and paperboy hats for this very reason.
